Welcome to El Viajero Hostels Uruguay, Colombia and Paraguay. We are a Hostel and B&B network located in the best places of Uruguay (Colonia, Montevideo, Punta del Este and La Pedrera), Colombia (Cartagena de Indias and San Andres Island) and Paraguay (Asunción).

El Viajero Ciudad Vieja Hostel is located in the historical heart of the city which is the top place of Montevideo’s nightlife!!
We are just a few steps away from the main attractive sites of the city:  Solís Theatre, Palacio Salvo, Puerta de la Ciudadela and the legendary Mercado del Puerto. And just 5 blocks away from the sea. Among a variety of museums, pedestrian streets, art galleries, artisan fairs, street artists, bars, cafés, barbecues and nightclubs.

The hostel is a three-story building dating from the XIX century, declared of National Interest by the government. We have an exclusive piano bar and a great terrace with Hammocks, Solarium and BBQ; where you can relax and have a sunbath watching the Cathedral and the Port during the day, and drink a cold beer while listening to good music and enjoying a delicious asado during the night.

Our service included breakfast, hot water 24/7, laundry service, public telephone, bed linen, free computers with internet access, Wi-Fi, laundry service, bike rental and parking (not included).

Rooms are clean,  big and luminous. We also have two fully equipped kitchens, two living rooms with TV, DVD players; Media Player with a selected variety of movies; play room, library, free internet access.

For your entertainment, we offer: daily activities at the hostel, dinners, city tours, bus tickets, bike rental, laundry service, public telephone, Spanish and Tango lessons, tickets for the best dance clubs, and much more.

Rates are expressed in US dollars to make easier the conversion, but the payments must be done in advance in Uruguayan pesos, during check in time.
We don´t accept credit cards.
If you book online you can have access promotios and discounts in our hostel.

From the Bus Station (Tres Cruces) you have these buses: 180 / 188 / 187 and CA1. You take the bus in Boulevar Artigas street (main door of the bus station), you take off the bus at the corner of Buenos Aires and Ituzaingó streets; then you cross the street and walk by Ituzaingó two blocks and a half and you will see the Hostel.

From the Seaport it’s 5 minutes walking. You go out of the Port and you will see the Famous ‘Port Market’, you walk along that street, which is called Yacare, until Perez Castellano street (one block). From that corner, you walk by Perez Castellano until you’ll find 25 de Mayo street (two blocks), then you turn left and walk 6 more blocks until you’ll find Ituzaingó; there you turn right and you will see the Hostel
